PNOC schedules seismic work off Palawan

The Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) is set to commence a 6,000-km seismic survey in three service contract areas offshore Palawan as part of its exploration drive.

SINGAPORE -- The Philippine National Oil Co. (PNOC) is set to commence a 6,000-km seismic survey in three service contract areas offshore Palawan as part of its exploration drive.

PNOC said it aims to select a farm-in partner for developing the 40 MMbbl of oil from the Malampaya rim and hopes for first oil by end of 2007. A technical study on producing from below the Malampaya gas reservoir has been completed.

The upstream program includes development of potential oil and gas field off South China sea prospect when reserves proves to yield commercial quantity, said PNOC.
