DUBLIN, Ireland – Total and its partners in frontier exploration license (FEL) 2/19 offshore western Ireland will review new 3D seismic to better delineate the undrilled Palaeocene Avalon prospect.

They have licensed around 1,500 sq km (579 sq mi) of multi-client 3D data acquired over FEL 2/19 as part of TGS’ widerCrean 3D seismic survey over the Porcupine basin acquired in 2017.

Dr John O’Sullivan, Technical Director at Total’s partner Providence Resources, said: “These new 3D seismic data should greatly enhance our understanding of Avalon’s origins, resource potential as well as possible exploration well locations.

“As these data are ‘off the shelf,’ they should greatly reduce the cycle time to the drill-decision...”
