CAIRO, Egypt -- Spectrum-Geopex has completed the first phase of a computer systems upgrade at its seismic data processing center in Nasr City, Cairo. The upgrade will quadruple the center’s seismic processing capacity, the company says.

The first phase of expansion increased the center’s CPU count by further 50%. A second upgrade, also scheduled for the second quarter, will increase the computing power to 500 CPUs.

Spectrum-Geopex is also the latest location to upgrade to Globe Claritas software as part of Spectrum Group's worldwide adoption program. Claritas improves the range of processing techniques offered to the group's portfolio of international clients, the company says.

Completion of the current upgrade program will enable Spectrum-Geopex to provide the same range of 3D seismic data processing and seismic imaging services as the other centers in the Spectrum Group.
