ABERDEEN, UK –A computer-based Virtual Seismic Atlas containing geological interpretations of seismic data has opened at www.seismicatlas.org. The information available ranges widely but is strongly weighted to the offshore. The linking of seismic images with interpretation is the novel addition to the project.

The VSA Website is collaboration between the University of Aberdeen, University of Leeds, and the Natural Environment Research Council and is supported by the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain, BG Group, BHP-Billiton, Hess, Shell, and StatoilHydro. Partners also include the British Geological Survey, the Geological Society of London, CGG Veritas, Fugro, Badley Geoscience Ltd and Midland Valley.
