LYSAKER, Norway –Petrobras has awarded a $251-million high density 4D seismic survey to Petroleum Geo-Service ASA. The 4,945 sq km (1,909 sq mi), five-survey program is scheduled to begin in Campos, Santos, and Espirito Santo basins off Brazil in October 2008 using the Ramform Sovereign.
The high-density time-lapse surveys program will use an 18-streamer x 8,000 m x 50 m spread or 14-streamer x 8,000 m x 50 m spread, depending upon Petrobras imaging requirements.
"PGS continues to show its long term commitment to Brazil by offering its most recent ultra-high capacity vessel for this exciting, long term Petrobras campaign" says Mike Edwards, marine VP South America for PGS. "The Ramform Sovereign will reduce the data acquisition time required by standard configurations. This will decrease Petrobras' commercial exposure and enable them to begin interpreting the final product much, much sooner than previously expected."
