STAVANGER, Norway –The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) plans to start a 2D seismic survey in Nordland VII and Troms II in mid-May. The NPD has a NOK 140 million ($27.5 million) budget for seismic acquisition this year.

Bergen Oilfield Services AS has the contract withS/V BOS Atlantic reserved through Sept. 14.

At the same time, representatives from NPD and the Directorate of Fisheries have submitted a report proposing new seismic data acquisition measures. A working group from the two organizations started in September 2007 to review the issues and develop the proposals.

Proposals include providing more exact information regarding each seismic run and making survey information available on the Internet. The group also proposed another study into the "startle response" of fish and sea mammals to seismic acquisition.

The general purpose of the work group is to foster cooperation between seismic acquisition and the fishing industries.
