3D coming to western Newfoundland

NWest Energy Inc. has contracted Geophysical Service Inc. to acquire 3D seismic data over 900 sq km (347 sq mi) off the western coast.

ST. JOHNS, Newfoundland –NWest Energy Inc. has contracted Geophysical Service Inc. to acquire 3D seismic data over 900 sq km (347 sq mi) off the western coast. NWest says this will be the first-ever 3D seismic off western Newfoundland.

Data is to be collected over six to eight weeks in 3Q 2008, if approved by the Canada-Newfoundland Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board.

NWest says it has identified 11 targets in its license area using 2D seismic data and plans to drill its first well in 2009 based on the 3D program.
