STAVANGER, Norway -- After a short postponement, Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) plans to start their acquisition of 3D seismic in Troms II in July and end the 3D seismic activity according to the original plan, on July 31.

The seismic data acquisition in the area was originally scheduled to start on June 24, but was postponed due to a fire in the engine room of the seismic vessel Atlantic Explorer. However, the fire damage is less extensive than originally thought.

The Institute of Marine Research project that was to have been carried out in connection with the 3D seismic acquisition has been cancelled due to the delays.

"The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate regrets this," says Sissel Eriksen, director of exploration, "but we are planning a similar project in connection with next year's acquisition of seismic data."
