HOUSTON -- Seismic Micro-Technology (SMT) plans to release its latest version of the KINGDOM seismic data interpretation software for generalists in November.

KINGDOM 8.3, based on the Microsoft Windows platform and accessible from laptop or desktop computers, will make it easier to detect gas locations and optimize extraction from unconventional sources, according to the company.

AVO is important in detecting sources of unconventional gas, which are already the primary sources of gas production in Canada and the US. By providing AVO conditioning tools inside SMT's core interpretation package, prospecting in unconventional gas fields can be cheaper and faster, the company says.
