Offshore staff
HOUSTON -- Hyperdynamics has identified structural and stratigraphic prospect along the slope-shelf portion of the West African Transform Margin Play. These prospects run through the company's 31,000-sq mi (80,000 sq km) contract area offshore Guinea.
The structural type prospects delineated so far include 15 large structures with fault-based hydrocarbon trapping confirmed for each prospect, the company says. Due to transform marginal faulting, some prospects have been interpreted to have three-way closure while others have four-way closure. Using the volumetrically based classifications documented by geologist Michael Halbouty, each of these prospects, if filled to the spill point, have world class potential ranging from "giant field" size to even one "super-giant field" potential, thus far.
With this interpretive work and additional ongoing analytical, Hyperdynamics has fine tuned its first 3D seismic program in history offshore the Republic of Guinea. The company has designed three separate 3D seismic grids that total approximately 4,100 sq km (1,583 sq mi). The 3D data acquisition is scheduled to begin at the end of 2008.
Hyperdynamics is now using its updated technical foundation to attract joint venture partners.
