SeaBird contracted for BP OBN survey

DUBAI -- BP has given SeaBird Exploration a letter of award for an ocean bottom nodes (OBN) seismic acquisition survey in Green Canyon in the Gulf of Mexico. The survey will begin upon completion of SeaBird's current contract with Total E&P Angola, estimated to be February 2009.

The survey will be done in the range of 1,300 to 2,300 m (4,265 to 7,546 ft) water depth and carried out with the OBN vesselHugin Explorer, with the Kondor Explorer as a separate source vessel. The contract has an expected duration of three months, the company says.
