ROME –ION Geophysical Corp. and Fugro-Geoteam brought their recent Intelligent Acquisition program cooperation to the annual European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers meeting in Rome.

As recently announced, Fugro has deployed ION's first DigiSTREAMER solid streamer acquisition system on a 2D vessel for a commercial acquisition program in the North Sea. Also, Fugro used ION's DigiFIN on a 10-streamer configuration and also upgraded a third vessel to use ION's Orca command and control software system for marine streamer vessels.

"Our crews are very satisfied with the performance of DigiFIN," said Svein Dale, technical manager of Fugro-Geoteam. "It contributed to both an increase in acquisition efficiency and safe towing of 10 streamers in challenging ocean currents. Orca is considered to be invaluable for undertaking an increasing number of complex survey geometries involving multiple vessels."

Intelligent Acquisition is ION's collection of technologies designed to work as an integrated system for better productivity and seismic image quality. It combines traditional stand-alone navigation, positioning, acquisition, and source systems with the intention of adjusting to the dynamics of a marine environment.
