ZURICH, Switzerland –StatoilHydro and Spectraseis have extended their technical collaboration in low-frequency passive seismic technology.

StatoilHydro also has expressed an interest in joining the newly formed joint industry project organized by Spectraseis and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology to advance the application of low-frequency passive seismology to detect hydrocarbons.

Spectraseis says it has the industry's biggest research program focused on the theory, methods, and applications of low frequency spectral analysis. Research programs include numerical modeling of wave propagation in porous media; low frequency processing and interpretation methods; and low frequency hydrocarbon microtremors.
