PERTH, Australia ā€“Fugro-Geoteam's Geo Atlantic has begun a 3D seismic survey in ConocoPhillips' WA-398-P permit off Western Australia. The survey is scheduled to cover 1,400 sq km (540 sq mi) within the permit area, plus 500 sq km (194 sq mi) outside the permit area. Completion is due in 1Q 2008.

The survey aims to hit Dufen and other shallow water leads to fix drilling prospects in anticipation of rig arrival this year. ConocoPhillips and partner Karoon Gas have chartered Transocean's semisubmersibleSedco 703 to drill one well in each of permits WA-314-P, WA-315-P, and WA-398-P starting in about 3Q 2008.

The three permits are in 400-800 m (1,312-2,324 ft) water depth on trend with the Scott Reef/Brecknock gas play, ConocoPhillips says.
