France's Compagnie Génèrale de Géophysique (CGG) SA Tuesday launched 4sight, an integrated 4D seismic data processing and reservoir service, targeting applications ranging from detection of unswept zones to improved reservoir characterization and optimized recovery strategy.
LONDON, June 13 -- France's Compagnie Génèrale de Géophysique (CGG) SA Tuesday launched 4sight, an integrated 4D seismic data processing and reservoir service, targeting applications ranging from detection of unswept zones to improved reservoir characterization and optimized recovery strategy.
Based on a set of generic and specific tools including surface-consistent matching, 4D stratigraphic inversion, 4D AVO, 4D depth imaging and 4D multi-component, 4sight is designed to translate seismic data into "more valuable" reservoir information linked to pressure and saturation changes, movement of fluid contacts, and mapping of flow pathways and undrained compartments.
Jean-Francois Arzel, executive vice-president of CGG Data Processing & Reservoir Services, said 4D seismic had become a critical tool for reservoir management. He said 4Sight would provide integrated 4D processing and reservoir services for "specific reservoir problems" and would become the linchpin of a 4D seismic technology suite that will "pave the way for the instrumented oil field."
