Norway's TGS-Nopec Geophysical Co. ASA in collaboration with Aberdeen-based OHM announced the start-up of a multi-client controlled source electromagnetic (CSEM) survey in the Norwegian Barents Sea. This CSEM survey is the first one conducted under a project-by-project collaboration agreement between the two companies.

TGS-Nopec will employ its 2D and 3D seismic database in the area on the project.

The CSEM survey method identifies highly resistive bodies like hydrocarbon bearing reservoirs in the subsurface, potentially helping to reduce exploration risk for oil and gas companies.

The companies expect to have final processed data and analysis this summer.

Industry pre-funding supports this survey.
