NORTH PERTH, Australia  Hartshead Resources has contracted Geoquip Marine Operations to perform a geotechnical survey over the Anning and Somerville gas fields and export pipeline locations in the UK southern North Sea.

The 83-m, DP2 vessel Geoquip Seehorn will likely conduct the program, mobilizing to the area in July. Its capabilities include deep seabed testing, borehole drilling, testing and sampling.

Hartshead’s main aims are confirmation of the seabed and sub-seabed soil conditions to finalize the design and installation of the offshore facilities and ensure the safe location of the jackup drilling rig at Anning and Somerville.

The survey will involve one 50-m borehole at the jacket centers and one 30-m borehole at each jackup location leg centroid, with samples and cone penetration testing; and onshore/offshore laboratory testing in accordance with international standards and procedures (ISO, ASTM, BSI, NS, ISRM, or equivalent).
