OSLO, Norway – TGS has committed to a third seismic data reprocessing project this year in Indonesia, covering the prospective Tarakan basin offshore northeast Kalimantan.

The company will apply modern broadband processing to 3,363 sq km (1,298 sq mi) of 3D legacy data to improve analysis of the hydrocarbon prospectivity, with oil discoveries such as Parang and Badik oil.

TGS will deploy a PreSTM and PreSDM workflow with dynamic matching FWI, tomography and modern de-multiple techniques to address imaging issues presented by the complex shallow overburden.

Will Ashby, Executive Vice President—Eastern Hemisphere at TGS, said the aim was to help “unravel the full offshore potential of this area.”

Final pre-stack time and depth products should be available during 4Q 2022 and 1Q 2023.
