MASSY, France – PXGEO has awarded CGG a two-part ocean bottom node (OBN) seismic imaging project over the Sapinhoá shared reservoir in the Santos basin offshore Brazil.

The results should help operator Petrobras improve management of oil recovery and production development.

CGG is already processing the baseline 575-sq km (222-sq mi) 3D seismic survey acquired by the PXGEO Poseidon OBN crew at its Rio de Janeiro subsurface imaging center.

Imaging technologies deployed include time-lag full-waveform inversion, internal multiple attenuation and least-squares migration. The aims include addressing structural uncertainties in the pre-salt and improved insight into the reservoir’s geomechanical behavior.

CGG will process the 4D monitoring survey following acquisition by PXGEO, planned for 2023.
