Phase 2 of Keraudren 3D survey starts offshore Western Australia

WEST PERTH, Australia – Shearwater GeoServices’ Geo Coral vessel has started acquiring 3D seismic data for the Keraudren Extension Phase II (KE2) project offshore Western Australia.
KE2, commissioned by Santos/Carnarvon Energy, will span an area of around 650 sq km (251 sq mi) and fill in the northern part of the initial Keraudren Extension Phase 1 (KE1) survey, acquired in mid-2021 by the same vessel.
The full program will cover 3,260 sq km (1,259 sq mi) over the southern half of the WA-436-P offshore permit and a northern part of WA-438-P, both in the Bedout basin.
Prospective targets include relatively shallow structural and stratigraphic leads in the basin’s eastern play fairway.
According to Carnarvon, KE2 should also close the 3D seismic data gap between the KE1 and the earlier Zeester 3D seismic survey.
Data will be acquired using the same parameters and equipment as for KE1 and will include the current full-integrity seismic data processing.
Carnarvon Managing Director and CEO Adrian Cook said: “The new 3D seismic data is expected to enable us to better understand the eastern extent of the Triassic play system that proved successful in the Dorado field.
“The objective will be to identify and delineate future drill targets, that will follow the Apus-1 and Pavo-1 wells that will commence shortly.”
