OSLO, Norway – The BGP Pioneer has started acquiring the NWAAM seismic survey in the MSGBC basin offshore Mauritania for TGS.

The 60-day, 7,500-km (4,660-mi) 2D survey, which will deploy a modern broadband acquisition set-up, is supported by Mauritania’s Ministry of Hydrocarbons.

TGS’ goals are to shed more light on regional plays in the ultra-deep and deepwater areas with a new azimuth and to provide insights into an oil-prone area, connected to recent key wells and the shallow-water geology.

This should help explorers seeking to build on Greater Tortue Ahmeyim and other discoveries.

Fast-track data should be made available three months after acquisition, followed by release of the full dataset by 2Q 2022.
