OSLO, NorwayPGS has sold the hardware, software and intellectual property associated with its towed-streamer controlled source electro magnetic (CSEM) system to Ocean Floor Geophysics (OFG).

The technology is said to allow marine CSEM data to be acquired quickly and efficiently with minimal environmental impact.

Under the transaction, PGS will receive shares in OFG and deepened its collaboration with the company, a specialist in multi-physics (the combination of different geophysical measurements).

“Together we cover the space from large scale towed CSEM and seismic surveys to full range of AUV-based geophysical measurements at ultra-high resolution”, said Berit Osnes, executive vice president New Energy at PGS.

Dr. Lucy MacGregor, principal scientist at OFG Multiphysics, added: “With the addition of the towed-streamer CSEM system developed by PGS, OFG now offers the broadest range of CSEM technology in the industry, covering both surface towed and AUV-based systems, applicable to a variety of applications including decommissioning and environmental studies, offshore wind farms, seabed mineral exploration, and offshore ground water studies.”
