MASSY, FranceCGG has completed the final 3D PSDM seismic dataset from its recent 15,400-sq km (5,946-sq mi) multi-client survey of the outer Zambezi Delta in the Mozambique basin.

The data covers blocks Z5-C and Z5-D and surrounding open acreage, and was acquired under a multi-client program agreed with Mozambique’s Instituto Nacional de Petroleo (INP).

The final PSDM data has identified stratigraphic intervals, allowing for improved understanding of the petroleum system, CGG said, and with the high-resolution gravity and magnetic data, brings new insights into the basin’s morphology and its evolution.

CGG’s imaging workflow, including full-waveform inversion (FWI), provided a detailed picture of the complex deep marine turbiditic system and associated frontal splays, and the faulting pattern and internal architecture of the Beira High.

The company has also made available a complementary Mozambique JumpStart package for license with the PSDM seismic data. This provides an integrated geoscience analysis of all the available regional data, placing it in its geological context.

CGG has analyzed data from 11 wells alongside the new seismic interpretation which was supported by hydrocarbon seep identification, high-resolution potential fields data and a full suite of Robertson multi-client geological data sets.
