TotalEnergies sanctions Ima gas field offshore Nigeria to supply NLNG Train 7

TotalEnergies and partner AMNI have taken FID on the Ima gas field development on the OML 112 and 117 licenses offshore Nigeria.

Ima, in shallow water close to Bonny Island, will be developed using a single platform, connected to Nigeria LNG (TotalEnergies, 15%) via a 22-km pipeline.

Production should begin in 2028, peaking at 350 MMcf/d.

The Ima gas field offshore Nigeria is planned to be tied into existing gas infrastructure on Bonny Island, supporting feedgas supply to Nigeria LNG's Train 7 expansion.

Ima is expected to supply about one-third of the gas required for Nigeria LNG's Train 7 expansion project, which is designed to increase the liquefaction plant's capacity by about 35%, from 22 MMtpa to 30 MMtpa.

TotalEnergies stressed that this will be a low-cost, low-emission development featuring a simplified platform design, power-from-shore infrastructure, zero routine flaring, and a permanent methane detection and monitoring system.

All the main contractors are Nigerian companies.
