Rex International Holding’s indirect subsidiary Akrake Petroleum Benin has signed contracts for the planned Sèmè Field development offshore Benin.
These cover the supply of a mobile offshore production unit (MOPU), which will be converted from a mid-sized drilling rig, and an Aframax tanker that will serve as a floating storage and offloading (FSO) unit.
Following conversion, the MOPU will be fitted with a purpose-built process equipment package. Both facilities should arrive in Benin during the fourth quarter of this year.
Akrake is a wholly owned subsidiary of Lime Petroleum Holding. Earlier in April, Lime signed a contract for a modern jackup to conduct a 120-day drilling campaign on the field.Akrake, which has a 76% operated interest in Sèmè, plans to submit a field development plan to Benin’s Ministry of Energy, Water and Mines, and restart production from the field later this year.
