Kistos says the partners in the Greater Laggan Area (GLA) gas development west of Shetland will focus on the Glendronach field for their next tie-in to the GLA export pipeline.
Shell's (unrelated) Victory field development, approved in January, will also use the infrastructure and the Shetland Gas plant that receives all production. Victory is due to produce first gas by the end of 2025.
The GLA decided that Glendronach, rather than Edradour West, offered the best prospects at this stage for prolonging the life of the existing facilities with greater certain for future developments, such as additional infill wells.
Other third parties are also considering potential development projects in the area.
Kistos also expects Prax Group to be confirmed as new operator in 2025, subject to regulatory approval for its recent agreement with current incumbent TotalEnergies. That should provide added momentum to sanctioning new field development projects.
Last month, Kistos/TotalEnergies were awarded seven new blocks/part-blocks in the area, including the previously identified Ballechin exploration prospect.
In the Dutch North Sea, Kistos is working on ways of potentially improving production from existing wells at the Q10-A field and to lower costs by working with other users of the P15-D platform. The aim is to prolong the economic life of the hub.
The Q11-B well, drilled as part of a 2021-22 campaign and suspended in February 2022, continues to undergo monitoring with an annual bubble survey. The next one will likely take place later this year.
Offshore testing is designed to confirm the integrity of the well suspension. Following the receipt of an extension to the suspension consent, well abandonment will take place in 2026 at the earliest.
