Alimak to supply tenth elevator for North Sea Sverdrup development
SKELLEFTEÅ, Sweden – Aibel has awarded Alimak an SEK27-million ($2.96-million) contract to provide an elevator is for the Johan Sverdrup Phase II project in the Norwegian North Sea.
The explosion-proof traction elevator and lift shaft will be used to transport personnel and goods in the process area on the platform.
Engineering work is due to get under way this month, with the equipment set to be delivered at the end of next year. The process platform is set to start operations in 2022.
Alimak Group previously worked for Aibel on the Gudrun, Troll A, Sleipner B, and Draupner in the Norwegian sector and with Equinor, via a frame agreement, on all nine lifts for Johan Sverdrup Phase I.
It is also supplying all four lifts for theJohan Castberg project in the Barents Sea.
