LONDON --Platform fabrication is under way for ConocoPhillips' recently sanctioned Kelvin field development in the southern North Sea, according to partner Tullow Oil. The project's single production well should be spudded this summer, with first gas targeted for December, at around 80MMcf/d.

Tullow will participate also in four southern sector exploratory wells this year in the Thames-Hewett and Caister-Murdoch areas, as well as two imminent central North Sea oil exploration wells, Acer and Peveril.

Last week, the company picked up 100% equity in four southern sector blocks in the Thames-Hewett region, and in block 44/21e close to Caister-Murdoch, under the UK's 24th offshore licensing round.
