Kashagan quarters on schedule

Consafe-McNulty venture completes Kashagan accommodation block

Offshore staff

ABERDEEN, UK --The UK-based joint venture of Consafe Engineering Services and McNulty Offshore has completed the living quarters for phase I of Agip KCO's Kashagan project in the Caspian Sea.

McNulty built 120 modules at its facility in South Shields, ranging in size from 60 to 120 sq m, which will house a total of 250 personnel. Consafe was responsible for design, procurement and project management, in addition to the design of two ocean-going barges which will transport the modules to the Kazakh sector of the Caspian via the associated canal and river network.

The living quarters will have a combined floor area of over 8,000 sq m (86,111 sq ft), and will be installed offshore this summer. They are designed to withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to +40C (-40 to +104F), and high concentrations of H2S in Kashagan's produced gas.
