HOUSTON --Construction is under way on the hull and topsides of MinDOC3, slated for the ATP-operated Mirage field in Mississippi Canyon blocks 941/942 and Atwater Valley block 63.

The MinDOC3 design looks like a semisubmersible, but acts like a spar, said ABS in its latest quarterly magazine. The design was created by Alden "Doc" Laborde and William Bennett, and is owned by Durward International, a joint venture of Keppel FELS and TexBASS, the report said.

ATP says the MinDOC is scheduled to sail out in mid-summer 2008. First production is expected in late 2008.
