BERGEN, Norway -- Oceanteam Power & Umbilical has accepted an LoI agreement with ABB for cable installation services associated with the 244-km (151.6-mi) BritNed interconnector between the Isle of Grain in the UK and Maasvlakte, in The Netherlands.

The contract will be executed in 3Q 2009 and 2Q 2010.

This contract stems from a long-term agreement between Oceanteam and BB through which the companies combine their manufacturing and installation capabilities for high voltage submarine power cables.

Oceanteam's fleet of North Ocean construction support vessels, which are specifically designed for this type of project, will carry out the work, the company says.
