HOUSTON --Subsea 7's new Seven Oceans reeled rigid pipelay vessel is scheduled to begin its first job on Chevron's Blind Faith field in the Gulf of Mexico starting this June.
The vessel has an up to 400 ton tensioner and a 3,500-ton main reel, and is a feature in Subsea 7's Offshore Technology Conference display in Houston.
A sister vessel, theSeven Seas also is under construction at the Merwede shipyard, but will have a different set of pipelay and construction equipment, with a conventional vertical lay system for flexible pipe or umbilical. It also will be able to lay rigid pipe in a J-lay configuration.
