STAVANGER, Norway --Statoil has awarded Leirvik Module Technology its largest ever contract, worth $121.72 million, for a new accommodation module complex for the Troll A platform in the North Sea.

The 5,300 sq m (57,049 sq ft) modules will be integrated with the platform's existing living quarters, to provide a facility with 150 single cabins, recreational areas, an administration center, and a control room. Statoil needs this expansion to manage increasing quantities of production equipment in the years ahead.

Following engineering work, pre-construction of the lightweight aluminum modules will start this fall, and they should be delivered in April 2009, following testing. That summer, a heavy-lift vessel will install two large modules, with five smaller consignments being connected using the platform's crane.
