Crawford re-entry under way
Offshore staff
LONDON, UK --Fairfield Acer has started an appraisal well on the Crawford oil field in the UK central North Sea.
Heavy-duty jack-upRowan Gorilla VII is drilling well 9/28a, designed to assess the Triassic reservoir in Crawford's previously untested northern section, and to appraise further Tertiary potential.
The 50-day well will likely be followed by an extensive testing and hydraulic fracture program. Depending on the outcome, Fairfield may decide to re-develop the field, which was abandoned by previous operator Hamilton in 1990, having produced 4 MM bbl of oil.
