McDermott to fabricate Maloob-C at new facility

HOUSTON --Pemex Exploracion y Produccion, Northeast Marine Region, has awarded J. Ray McDermott SA a contract to fabricate the Maloob-C drilling platform for Ku-Malob-Zaap field in 269 ft (82 m)of water in the Bay of Campeche.

Construction is scheduled to begin at Altamira in February 2008 on the eight-leg jacket and the deck, with completion targeted in 1Q 2009, McDermott says.

"This is the first project award for our new facility at Altamira, Mexico," said Bob Deason, J. Ray's president and CEO. "I believe the Altamira facility will prove increasingly valuable for J. Ray in the coming years with its capabilities and deep water access to the Gulf of Mexico."
