ABERDEEN, UK --The Sevan Hummingbird FPSO has arrived at the Chestnut field in the UK central North Sea following a five-day tow from the Keppel Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam.

Chestnut is a 6.5 MMboe field in block 22/2a operated by Venture Production. The cylindrical Sevan 300 design FPSO – the first deployed in the North Sea – is contracted to Venture for two and a half years, but with options of at least four six-month extensions. It will remain on location until Chestnut ceases production, but Venture will retain it for re-deployment elsewhere.

The FPSO, built by Yantai Raffles Shipyard in China, has oil storage capacity of 270,000 bbl, and can process up to 30,000 b/d of oil, with water injection capacity of 20,000 b/d.

The moorings were pre-installed earlier this year, and installation of the production riser, along with final commissioning, should get under way shortly. First oil is due next spring via a single production well, but Venture is looking at options for a second producer to increase recovery and extend the field's life.
