NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE, UK --The subsea sector could soon provide more than half Britain's oil and gas production, says Malcolm Webb, chief executive of Oil & Gas UK. But the industry needs to sustain investment if it wants to expand its exports overseas, he added.
Webb was speaking at the recent Subsea North East conference co-organized by Subsea UK and NOF Energy.
Chris Braithwaite, chief operating officer of Wellstream International, warned of signs that the UK was starting to lose its competitive edge.
"It is vital that regional businesses share knowledge and opportunities and work together continuously to develop a skilled workforce," he added, "ensuring a successful future for the sector."
