Floatel orders second accommodation semi

Floatel International has contracted Keppel FELS to construct a 500-man accommodation semisubmersible vessel.

GOTHENBURG, Sweden --Floatel International has contracted Keppel FELS to construct a 500-man accommodation semisubmersible vessel.

TheKFELS SSAU 3600, due for delivery end-2010 under a $206-million contract, is designed to work in regions outside the North Sea. Earlier this year, Floatel ordered a harsh environment accommodation semi from Keppel FELS.

Keppel's Deepwater Technology Group designed the six-column vessel, which will be capable of operating alongside fixed platforms with a fully redundant dynamic positioning system. It will also provide a high crane capacity and firefighting capabilities.
