Independence Hub set to sail next week

HOUSTON -- The Independence Hub is scheduled to tow out next week from Corpus Christi, Texas to its deployment site, pending favorable weather conditions, according to Enterprise Products Partners LP, 50% owner of the platform.

The semisubmersible will be moored in Mississippi Canyon block 920 in 2,438 m (8,000 ft) of water. The facility is expected to reach mechanical completion by the end of March, followed by first production in the second half of the year.

The floating production facility is built with capacity to handle up to 1 bcf/d of natural gas from a number of surrounding fields.
