Technip wins platform contract offshore Nigeria

Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd. has awarded Technip a turnkey contract to load, transport, and install the topsides for the OFP2 fixed platform on the Ofon field.

PARIS -- Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd. has awarded Technip a turnkey contract to load, transport, and install the topsides for the OFP2 fixed platform on the Ofon field.

Located 50 km (31 mi) off the coast of Nigeria in 40 m (131 ft) water depth, the field is operated by Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd. on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corp./Elf Petroleum Nigeria Ltd. joint venture.

The contract covers engineering, the supply of equipment required for the installation, loading the topsides onto a transport vessel, transporting the topsides from South Korea to Nigeria, and installing the topsides using Technip's proprietary Unideck floatover method.

Technip's operations and engineering center in Lagos, Nigeria, will handle transportation and installation.

Offshore operations are scheduled for 2010.
