McDermott to fabricate part of Gorgon

The Kellogg Joint Venture-Gorgon, on behalf of Chevron Australia Pty Ltd., has awarded J. Ray McDermott SA a contract to construct more than 60 pre-assembled racks and units with an estimated combined weight of 25,000 metric tons (27,558 tons) at its Batam Island, Indonesia, facility.

HOUSTON -- The Kellogg Joint Venture-Gorgon, on behalf of Chevron Australia Pty Ltd., has awarded J. Ray McDermott SA a contract to construct more than 60 pre-assembled racks and units with an estimated combined weight of 25,000 metric tons (27,558 tons) at its Batam Island, Indonesia, facility.

McDermott will provide project management, fabrication engineering, procurement and materials management, construction, comissioning assistance, quarantine compliance, loadout, and seafastening of the structures. The units will be part of the Gorgon LNG facility off northwest Australia.

Work is expected to begin in 4Q 2010 and to be completed after two years, says McDermott.
