HOUSTON –Turkish company Extrem Energy is seeking partners for an exploration license in the Aegean Sea.

The Candarli block (license AR/EXT/4219) is in the Western Anatolian region, offshore western Turkey, in water depths ranging from 10-150 m (33-492 ft). According to brokers Indigo Pool, a subsidiary of Schlumberger, the block contains multiple leads and prospects with billion-barrel potential.

Commercial oil quantities have been discovered in the closest analogue basin, where Extrem recently drilled and put wells into production. Indigo Pool points out that there is a refinery south of the license, which would facilitate development and early monetization of any fresh finds.

The work plan for the license includes seismic acquisition next year, and other studies.
