ROME -- Development of the Guendalina gas field offshore Italy is progressing as scheduled, according to partner Mediterranean Oil and Gas (MOG).

The field is in concession AC 35 AG in the Adriatic Sea, 25 km (15.5 mi) off northeast Italy in 42 m (138 ft) water depth. Operator ENI started development in April after gaining the production concession in December 2009.

The program involves installing a platform with two production wells. A subsea pipeline will connect the new installation to ENI’s existing Tea platform and other offshore production facilities.

MOG says installation of the platform and drilling of the wells should take place during 1Q 2011, with first gas due on stream in September, building to 15-20 MMcf/d.

ENI estimates Guendalina’s reserves at 19 bcf proven and 22 bcf proven plus probable. It will assess a further potential 5 bcf during the development drilling campaign.
