HOUSTON -- Woodside Energy Ltd. has selected Wood Group’s Mustang to provide the independent assessment and verification of readiness for what it claims will be one of the world’s heaviest open-water floatover installations.
The North Rankin B (NRB) platform topsides, weighing 23,600 metric tons, will be floatover-installed on a steel jacket on the North West Shelf of Australia in 126 m (413 ft) of water.
When completed, Mustang says the floatover will break a number of world records, including the heaviest topside floatover-installation on a steel jacket, and the deepest open-water floatover on a steel jacket.
The NRB platform will be bridge-linked to the existing NRA platform to form the NR2 central processing complex.
