US, GoM -- Duffy and McGovern Accommodation Services is investing $4 million to supply 20 offshore cabins designed and built specifically for the US Gulf of Mexico market.

Due for completion in the second half of 2006, the A-60-rated units comply with the latest ABS and US Coastguard regulations and are SOLAS and IMO compliant.

The eight and 12-man cabins are being fitted-out in Alabama by Jamestown Metal before arriving in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.

The company's 12-man module comprises three four-man cabins, laid-out to take up less deck space, providing access at both ends of the unit. They include full ventilation, air conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms, with external linking stairs and walkways.

"Demand for those modules (12-man) has continued to rise and this latest investment reinforces our ongoing commitment to servicing the needs of the industry in the Gulf of Mexico, where oil and gas exploration is as strong today as ever," says Craig McLeish, managing director of Duffy and McGovern.
