BAKU, Azerbaijan -- Hookup and commissioning of the East Azeri platform deck on Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field of the Caspian Sea is under way.
The 16,000-metric ton deck was installed July 28 on its jacket in 150 m of water.
First production is expected by the end of the year. Plans call for production to peak at 260,000 b/d of oil.
The entire field is expected to produce 1 MMb/d oil at its peak in 2009. Oil will go to the Sangachal terminal in Azerbaijan for processing and export through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline to the Mediterranean.
