Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea has awarded Bardex Corp. a contract to design, manufacture, and supply a mooring system for Total's Usan FPSO destined for offshore Nigeria.

GOLETA, California -- Hyundai Heavy Industries of Korea has awarded Bardex Corp. a contract to design, manufacture, and supply a mooring system for Total's Usan FPSO destined for offshore Nigeria.
The designed mooring system includes 16 BarLatch fairlead stoppers sized to hold the 1,770 metric ton (1,951 ton) break strength of the system's 147 mm R3 studless chain, four moveable linear chain jacks rated for a stall pull of 382 metric tons (421 tons), two 255 metric ton (281 ton) pull-in messenger winches, and two hydraulic power units each of which can provide up to 480 kW. The contract also covers deck equipment and other associated system components.
Bardex is completing final design details and will start manufacturing in the coming months with phased deliveries begin in 3Q 2009 and continuing into the first half of 2010.
