CALGARY, Canada-- An alternative development concept is under review for the Crawford field re-development in the UK northern North Sea, according to partner Stratic Energy.

Operator Fairfield Energy had been in discussions with Marathon over a subsea tieback to the East Brae platform. Now, however, the partners are considering using a production jackup for the development. A final decision has been postponed until next year, pending the completion of current studies.

Elsewhere in the UK sector, Stratic says another well will likely be drilled on the license containing the Bowmore prospect in 2010. A well on Bowmore in August was suspended as a “tight hole.”

In the Turkish sector of the Black Sea, Stratic says the West Ayazli exploration well was spud in October, and is currently operating at total depth. The partnership, led by TPAO, plans a novel low cost completion, Stratic adds, to facilitate early production of the Kusuri gas-bearing sands.
