LONDON – Phase II development drilling has started on the TGT field in the Nam Con Son basin off southern Vietnam, according to partner SOCO International.

PetroVietnam Drilling’s PVD-1 jackup has spud the first well at the H4 wellhead platform. A total of five wells are scheduled to be drilled following batch setting of surface casing strings, and all should be completed for a production start next August.

Currently oil output through the Armada TGT-1 FPSO is around 30,000 b/d while the wells are being tested and baseline reservoir management information taken.

Preparation continues for the second set of planned perforations and production should build steadily to test the total processing capacity of the FPSO by year-end.

Gas export has also started through a pipeline to the nearby Vietsovpetro-operated Bach Ho facilities for processing and transportation to shore via existing pipeline infrastructure. Again, gas rates are presently low while the gas-related process systems undergo testing and commissioning.

SOCO expects TGT oil output to plateau at roughly 55,000 b/d, with gas production peaking at close to 30 MMcf/d.

In the same area, acquisition has been completed of around 140 sq km (54 sq mi) of full fold 3D seismic data over the TGD field appraisal area. Processing of the data will start shortly.
