ExxonMobil to replace subsea power cables in GoM

ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has contracted Prysmian Group to supply and install 50 km (31 mi) of submarine power cables in the Gulf of Mexico.

Milan, Italy – ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has contracted Prysmian Group to supply and install 50 km (31 mi) of submarine power cables in the Gulf of Mexico.

The $100-million project will also increase the cable capacity to 40 kV in the cables, which will be designed for water depths to 450 m (1,476 ft), to carry electric power from an existing shore-based plant to the offshore platforms.
